Combing Salons in Paris
She may be from Alabama, but journalist and novelist Priscilla Lalisse-Jespersen is as French as they come. She is pictured above in front of the Wall Street of Paris, La Defense. This Natural has been living in Paris for 13 years.
Her popular online magazine, Prissy Mag, gives a snapshot of everyday French life. She says the world of Natural Hair in Paris is quite different from America's. She notes that women don't stop each other and share tips. She tried a couple of times but was told it's "not normal." And she has yet to come across a Naturual Hair event.
She points out though, that it's much easier to wear Natural Hair in France and that many of the women she works with wear afros. "For the French, it's normal. It's natural. It's beautiful," she says. When she hit the streets to find competent salons , her article Combing for A Black Hair Salon in Paris received the most hits on her site.
