Her studio overfloweth with kinky haired women. With each stroke of her brush, artist Daisy Giles gives natural hair a platform with a mouthpiece that breathes life into the beauty of natural hair. The striking pictures are exceptional and the colors will approach all of your senses.

Giles says you can tell a lot about a woman by the way she wears her hair. In her fine work, the kinks always make a statement, sometimes quietly and sometimes more boldy. Giles adds that her own identity as biracial woman, “the subtleties, the complexity, the strength and the vulnerability,” is what she aims to portray in her paintings.” She currently has an exhibit at the University of Minessota’s Paul Whitney Larson Art Gallery.

This young talent graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BFA in Art and a BA in African-American and African Studies. In case you are wondering, Daisy’s work is not limited to natural hair art, there is so much more that her brush strokes yield.
