The Korean Reverse Perm or Afro Perm hit the South Korean market with a vengeance some years ago and and people have been lining up to get kinky ever since. The chemical process takes straighter than straight hair, and makes it kinky enough to hold up an Afro pick. (There are also Reggae Perms for those who want locks).

    The salon that has cornered the market is Bombhead Salon in Seoul, Korea. With its slick look, you could mistake the salon chairs for club chaises. With three locations in Chungdam, Bundang and Kangnam, the Afro-Perm is officially a style.

    This ‘do’ that those of Asian descent have popularized is an awesome testimony in the natural hair vs. permed hair debate and serves as a reminder to us all that naturally kinky hair should not be taken for granted.
