YOUR ON-SET LOOK

EVERYONE is required to wear make-up for an on - air polished look. On-set lighting is very harsh and washes out any color you may have, so it must be balanced by a full coverage look of color and lots of it! The lighting also tends to highlight everything you may not like or see on yourself. Being on TV also adds 10 pounds to your look so take this opportunity to figure out the make-up and looks that are best for you.

Here are some rules to keep in mind for women and men!

1. If you normally wear make-up, your on-set make-up will be much heavier than your day make-up. Bring make-up to class so that you can see how you look on air and adjust. Ladies! Please bring in/purchase a lipstick in the red and pink families.

2. Always have your brush, comb make-up and hairspray available

on set for touch-ups.

3. Make-up is harsh and changes you skin over time. Please purchase a cleanser for everyday use. Even if you do NOT wear make up ever again, you should cleanse your face every day so your skin will be healthy and/or have a healthy base for make-up.

Visit Mac, Sephora or Macy's and speak with an consultant who will let you try products and color palettes for FREE.  Learn the make-up ropes, it's very important.

WHAT NOT TO WEAR ON TELEVISION

-Do not wear white or bright red, the color may bleed.

-Do not wear any clothing with tight patterns or pin stripes.

-Avoid flashy jewelry. It reflects light.

-Avoid jangly jewelry. It  makes noise that will be picked up by your microphone

(this applies whether you are on TV or not).

-Wear your eyeglasses if you want, but avoid shiny frames.

-Women AND Men! You must wear makeup. It has the practical purpose of reducing the

glare of TV lights and will make you look polished.

-Bring a handkerchief or tissues to dab perspiration during breaks.

-Don’t forget makeup on receding hairlines or bald heads.

-No cleavage or T-shirts please.
