“One of the biggest issues is skin color and hair. We have people bleaching their skin, in Haiti and Africa. It's a big big big issue. Not that one product is better than another, but some people don’t have the means to get the right product so they do crazy things; they use hair perm [on their skin]. Crazy stuff. They are not comfortable yet with their skin color; they are not comfortable with their hair. It’s ok, perm your hair or wear a weave, but you have to accept yourself as you come—as well as understand that this is a style. Some people don’t walk out of their house without the perm or the weave, so I think it is a big thing to learn how to love yourself as you come, because you are never going to look like everyone...I am trying to change the standards of beauty, [and] joined a pageant to do so.…I think I belong in Miss World because it is a lot about inner beauty.”
